I'm not a huge pizza guy. Generally I'm indifferent. However, Bordenaro's was really great. I tried the meat lovers, which was fantastic. The crust is nice and thin. The atmosphere isn't luxurious and shouldn't be. It's perfect for the neighborhood. The service was fantastic. Taylor did a great job of taking care of us. She brought drinks, offered refills and was very attentive throughout the meal. Wait staff like this is a precious commodity. I'll be back, Bordenaro's!

Excellent pizza and salad and service. Love this place for lunch or dinner or take away or delivery!! Try it! I think you'll be surprised.

They have THE BEST onion rings that I have ever eaten... And I've eaten a lot of onion rings. We've tried their pizza and pastas and LOVED both. The pizza wasn't as great as their pastas but I'm still giving it 5 stars because it's always my go-to Italian restaurant.

My little GF pizza looks and tastes like a cheap frozen pizza complete with canned mushrooms. The 'salad' is iceberg lettuce, banana peppers and shredded cheese. This is overpriced, low quality food.

i would give this a 0 if i could. the onion rings were greasy and made me sick later. the food was way overpriced. the parking was horrible. i will never, never, never go back to this place.

Love their pizza. While I was home over Christmas, ate Bordenaro's pizza twice. I wasn't home that long. Delicious and quick delivery. Can't wait until my next trip home. We do not have good pizza near where I live.

Delivery order 6/23/15: they forgot a pasta dinner. We called to tell them and they blamed us and said we never ordered it. They took 0 responsibility. They put us at the bottom of the delivery list. Our 2nd most recent delivery order was ~3 weeks ago. They were 45 minutes late and forgot 2 items. We informed them of the poor service when we ordered on 6/23/15 and they proceeded to forget item again. Listen, I understand shit happens. It's the poor customer service following that upsets me.

I have eaten here twice now and the pizza was just so so. The crust is a little thin for my liking, more like a cracker. This past experience was terrible, and I will NEVER EAT HERE AGAIN. After ordering and eating both a speciality pizza, and a gluten free pizza my family and I were struck with violent food poisoning that left us incapacitated for 2 days. It was the only meal that we had all eaten together, as they had just gotten in for the holidays. Like clock work, 4 grown adults were brought to their knees by poorly handled foods. We called the restaurant on their next business day to speak with the manager, and they could not have cared any less. Not that they could have made up for such a terrible experience, but sometimes customer service can go a little ways. I will never bring anyone here ever again. If I could give a zero star rating I would.

I have eaten their pizza from here a couple of times during a company lunch when staff brought in their pizza for everyone to share. I have not actually eaten their pizza in their actually restaurant, but have eaten here and had their sandwiches. Their service is friendly and fast. Their food is pretty good, but my taste in pizza is not satisfied by their pizzas. It may be because of my specific taste in pizzas, I enjoyed their pizza, it's just I would not personally order it to fulfill my pizza craving. I would come back to try it again to see how their pastas are, they look good!

First time here. Sat down with the wife and her parents on the patio out back. Very pleasent. Ordered some garlic bread and a large specialty pizza with everything on it. I am a big fan of thin and crispy so the pizza delivered for me, it was great. The other impressive thing was the bill was small. A round of drinks, some had two, and the Za was under 40 bucks.

Not any better than frozen pizza. Nothing special there. Service was good but didn't make up for bad pizza. ....our pizza was too done, very dry.

I still think my review applies in general, but I want to say that the last two times I've eaten there (meaning at the restaurant) and one time when I carried it out, the crust was very close to being burnt. I'm downgrading to four stars because of that. For the record, some of my dining companions felt it WAS burnt, and this is something they've noted before... they would be saying 3 stars at this stage. Just in case the owner or manager ever checks these reviews, I wanted to mention it and I'm pretty sure it won't be unique feedback. For my thoughts on why this is really good though, read the previous review...

Good pizza, not great. They do have a spicy sauce option, you will have to ask for a milder verision if you need it. Love the thin crust, they do a great job with that. They have a nice menu for pasta and salads too. I would say its worth a stop, maybe you might like it a little better than me.

I grew up on the south side of Des Moines and remember the days when Bordys was solely a takeout pizza place. They have grown (taking the space to the south of them) and their quality continues to be excellent. I lived in a lot of places across the country and Des Moines has some great pizza places, Bordenaros being one of the benchmarks. Was back visiting family a week ago (visit twice a year and almost always have it when I'm there) and the pizza continues to perform with top marks!

The pizza is a standard Midwestern party cut pizza. The crust was on the crunchy side, but not as crunchy or as dry like a cracker. I suspect some form of fat in the way of shortening, butter, or oil. I saw a few deck ovens going hot and heavy in back with restaurant, take-out, and delivery orders. Overall the taste of the crust was good, but more like a biscuity texture than a cracker. I had asked for Italian sausage but the flavor was not quite what I was expecting. I suspect they use pork sausage lightly seasoned to pass as Italian sausage or they simply make their sausage without fennel. The mushrooms looked like the canned variety. The sauce was good but after a few bites, both my wife and I detected some added heat. It tasted to me like some form of pepper. I noticed on the menu they offer a milder sauce, which I would like to try if I ever make it back. Overall, the flavors mixed together well and I generally liked this pizza quite a bit. As for our daughter, well, she had her own ideas as to the flavor and what would make it taste better. The house salads were unremarkable - the bagged variety. Their cheesey garlic bread was very good - plenty of cheese and greasey flavor. Overall, I am going to give Bordenaro's in Des Moines 3 out of 5. I would say it is probably worth a stop if you are in the Des Moines area.

Decent place, not fancy but clean with good service (we arrived for lunch with 12 people and they had no problem seating us). Our group ordered 3 pizzas, one hot sandwich and the cheese bread. Verdict: Pepperoni pizza was very good, as was the Bordy's Special. The taco was OK, but not great. Thin crusts (except taco) with good ingredients and a sauce some might consider mildly spicy, but certainly not a deal breaker. The Hot Cappacola sandwich was very good as well, and is somewhat spicy. The cheese bread was OK. I would certainly eat here again.

Bordenaro's Pizza is a southside fixture. The pizza is thin and they have their quality down. Two larges were dinner. Hot sausage on one and Copicola & hot peppers on the other. Both were hot & tasty. Beer was cold. You won't be disappointed.

Some of the best pizza in Des Moines! Highly recommended.

I eat here all the time. (twice a month) In Des Moines this is the place to go get Pizza. Service good sometimes a little pokey because its a young high school college kid staff. Food is great. Always relaxed. They are not going to rush you a long here. This is a casual place. Easy going, where you can go relax on your lunch hour (Monday, Wednesday, Friday) or in the evening. They have a kids menu, so your kid can get Mac and Cheese.

The best non-Chicago-style pizza around Des Moines. They use spicey Graziano sausage that makes all the difference! The prices are good, too. I typically do take-out because the place can get crowded and the service can be a tad slow. My order is always ready within a few minutes and I can be in-and-out the door right away.

Bordenaro's has some of the best thin crust pizza around! There onion rings are delicious, and their meatballs you can tell are homemade which is a rare thing in the restaurant industry. If you're looking for an old school delicious Italian place Bordenaro's is the place to go. However, you don't go there because the have good service. Most of their wait staff act like it's a chore to wait on you, so take it to go.
